From 1905 until today…
1905-1930
It was at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century (1905 are the first written finds *) that Evangelos S. Nessis (1880-1953), a goldsmith, dared to open a jewelry and decorative object workshop in Ioannina during those difficult times.
Kalarrytes, the place where he was born, was a large village with over 3,000 permanent residents and at the same time the area with the most famous and talented silver and goldsmiths of Greece at that time.
In the workshop "Nessis" at that time worked about 20 craftsmen and assistants with a craftsman and the leading role of builder Evangelos's brother, Apostolis Nessis.
* Evangelos's father, Sotirios Nessis, was also a goldsmith, but with the complete destruction by the Turks of the village of Kalarrytes, due to the universal uprising for liberation, all the elements that could tell us his own story were destroyed.
1930-1980’s
The son of Evangelos, Vassilios Nessis was the second generation and was the natural continuation in the family business since from a very young age he was actively involved in the art of jewelry. His heritage in the field of jewelry in the wider area is huge since several young craftsmen passed through his workshop and were taught the art. In fact, many of them later opened their own successful laboratories.
Anxious, insightful and daring, he expanded his activities, opening around 1930 one of the first retail stores of its kind, in Ioannina, on Averof Street. Averoff was later to become the famous street of jewelry stores. This development made the company known, to grow, to go beyond the narrow borders of the city of Ioannina and to be one of the most prestigious and reliable jewelry stores in Ioannina and throughout Greece where it was constantly gaining new friends and customers.
Connoisseur and connoisseur of rare objects and jewelry, he loved his work and knew as few as possible the secrets and magic that the world of jewelry emits. He was a diverse personality who instilled respect in his client friends, colleagues and associates, but also in society in general.
1980’s-2015
Son of Vassilios, Evangelos Nessis was the third generation in the continuation of the traditional business. He was introduced to the secrets of jewelry making from a very young age and learned the magic of jewelry from his father. He liked the design as well as the invention of new design trends in jewelry.
Για να ασχοληθεί και επιστημονικά με το σχέδιο ακολούθησε σπουδές στο Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο της Αθήνας όπου και αποφοίτησε το 1976. Από τότε με μια μικρή και απαραίτητη ενασχόληση σε έργα μελέτες και κατασκευές ιδιωτικών και δημοσίων έργων –που ήταν το αντικείμενο των σπουδών του- επανήλθε στη παλιά του αγάπη το κοσμηματοπωλείο αφού η επιχείρηση με το φημισμένο όνομα “Νέσσης” ήταν αδύνατον να μην τον απορροφούσε ολοκληρωτικά για όλη την υπόλοιπη επαγγελματική του ζωή.
Επί ημερών του τόσο λόγω της επιστημονικής του κατάρτισης όσο και λόγω της διαρκούς αναζήτησης του νέου και πρωτοπόρου σχεδιασμού, το κοσμηματοπωλείο γνώρισε μέρες δόξας και έγινε γνωστό ακόμη περισσότερο σε πολλές πόλεις της Ελλάδας. Πολύ σπουδαίο ρόλο έπαιξε εδώ και η σύζυγός του, Ιωάννα, που με το αλάνθαστο ένστικτό της, την αγάπη για το κόσμημα, το καλό γούστο και την σπάνια ευαισθησία της συνδυασμένη έδωσε τη δική της πνοή και έβαλε τη δική της απαραίτητη πινελιά στην ήδη επιτυχημένη πορεία.
2015....
This is how we happily reach the fourth generation!
The starting point of our new effort is the creation of our website, as well as the establishment of the online store that will include our latest creations. We start this effort with optimism and faith that it will be considered successful.
With this website, our goal is to give our business a mark all these years. For this reason, after all, we choose to promote jewelry and objects of special aesthetics and art. The line that Nessis1905.gr will follow aspires to give new trends and personal style to all creations, whether it is light-youthful casual or timeless, classic jewelry, mixing precious metals and gems with each other, often in combination with porcelain or glass. These new creations will be the main body of our online store and we intend to focus our efforts on unique handmade pieces or jewelry with a completely limited production number.
What we want to achieve is the constant change of designs and proposals, as well as to be able to gradually produce jewelry and objects exclusively of our own inspiration and our own design.

Our philosophy
Our philosophy was and remains, that jewelry is a work of art, a handicraft that encloses not only the artistic but also the emotional value that is always more important. A piece of jewelry tells the story, the beautiful moments, the unforgettable events, the births, the weddings, the life of every family and in this sense it is an invaluable value that justly wins the respect of all.
We move with this philosophy even today, trying to engrave in your memory with indelible precious signs, the stations of your life. We expose our personal aesthetic point of view on jewelry and the object, with the ambition of these objects to be your personal choice for the pleasant moments and circumstances of your life.
Succeeding is not just a satisfaction and a reward for us. Our main motivation is to be able to contribute a small or greater amount of joy and emotion to the events that mark your life, thus drawing from you a small portion of your participation in your joy but also a reward for your own our effort.
